Sunday saw us making our annual Christmas trip up to Lac Vieux Desert for some ice fishing madness. As usual, this outstanding lake did not disappoint us. With a much smaller group than usual, we were set-up in record time and before long, the flags were flying as hungry northerns inhaled our shiners in about 7 ft of water. The action continued throughout the day with the shore lunch and fish chowder being "hits" again. As dusk crept over the lake, the northern action turned into a mean walleye bite with multiple walleyes landed including some pushing 25". It was a great day as usual on this fabulous fishery even with new ice auger issues and a vehicle breakdown on the way home. Take a kid fishing.
