The much needed rain and a drop in evening temps has cooled the water a few degrees (down to the mid 70's in most lakes) and heated up the fishing. Earlier this week Ross's Sport Shop guides had some great mixed bag trips and some good Musky outings. On Saturday one of the guide boats boated over 35 walleye and a bunch of bluegill on the Phillips Chain in a 4 hour half day trip. We are using small lead head jigs tipped with a half of a crawler for best results. Leeches are also working but not as well as the crawlers. The Walleye and Gills are holding on the 15 to 18 foot breaks around cribs and other wood structure. We are also getting some bonus Jumbo Perch and Smallmouth Bass mixed in.

The Musky are going on everything from blades to rubber and the Surface bite is hot again, They are holding close to but not in deep water.

Pictured is Guide John Kleczewski with a 47 inch release that ate a prototype Lake X Lure surface bait made right here in Price County. Also pictured is a mixed bag of Gill's, Perch and Walleye, and a great smile with after a nice fight on light tackle with a Smallmouth Bass.
