Went out with good friend and fellow musky nut Darcy Cox for another crack at some pre-spawn smallies. After a slow start we found the fish moving up on the shallow structure preparing for the spawn. It's a lot of fun being able to sight-fish them in clear water. Even saw a few muskies hanging around the bass areas and following baits!
The water temps really warmed up in the last week, the main lake temps were 55-58 and most of the areas we found fish were right around 60. Warmest we found was 65. Finesse baits still out-performed jerk baits, with tubes and wacky worms catching most of the bass. Pike were hitting whatever we threw at them so it made for quite a bit of action!
The biggest bass of the day was just over the 18" mark, but we boated a couple in that size range.
