    Default 2025

I will be posting next year’s available fishing dates very soon. Also, my boat will get a newer engine upgrade next month and be ready for another 10-year run. Hopefully, I can crank things back up sometime in March as well as hit a few golf balls by then.

There looks to be some decent late-December weather on the way, too. Be safe and good luck out there.

Merry Xmas and Happy New Year!

Since Mercury decided to discontinue their 200hp OptiMax Sportjet, I decided to have my original engine remanufactured prior to “blowing up”. The Optimax is one of the best, lightweight engines for shallow water applications and is great on gas, relatively speaking. The downside of this particular engine is its longevity. These engines usually last around 1000 hours due to the lightweight components which decreases durability vs. a big block engine.

My engine was finally delivered to Weigel Brother’s Marine last week and will be ready soon.

    Stay tuned!

We chased some toothy critters on Monday and managed to get a small fish in the net. We had a giant walleye do a drive-by on Scott’s swimbait as well. The water was on the drop all day and that usually makes for some tougher Springtime fishing. I have a feeling as soon as KY and Ohio water levels recede, our gates will open again in order to get the Rez back to normal.

New engine ran great and almost finished the break-in period. Water temps are in the 43-45 degree range. We got an inch of snow this morning which doesn’t really do me any good!

    Good luck and stay tuned!

Things were very slow during the COLD morning but we managed another pike just before quitting time. Water temps had fallen 3 degrees since Monday but most of that was gained back yesterday. The fish where behaving exactly like they should under the circumstances. Hopefully, the not-so-cold evening will help us have some action this morning.

    Good luck and stay tuned.

The weather seemed great and the wind blew hard for most of the day. Wyatt had his first shot at bagging a boatside musky at the end of the day……but after a couple headshakes, she was gone.

We did net a PB walleye for Zach that decided to smoke his musky swimbait around 10am.

Water temps continue to rise and the outflow remained around 4400 cfs. We decided to skip all the rain today and stay indoors!

    Good luck and safe travels!
