This had been a long awaited trip for smallmouth bass and we could hardley wait we loaded up with softcraws, big bass shiners and tube jigs and raced to the East side of Kelleys Island to the airport and began working drop shots off the bottom with no luck. We moved to the south and south west sides of the island with no luck. We decided to run over to South bass island to the monument and buckeye reef with not a bite. We talked to several other charters that also claimed there bass fishing was full of lock jaw. We decided to go perch fishing and ended up with 50 nice perch with one 14.3 incher. All in all we had a good trip and many laughs but I sure wish the bass would have cooperated.
