Smile Muskies on for Niko Outing

This past weekend Justin and I had John Niko, Jan Paul, Terry, and his son Kelly out for some fishing on Friday evening and Saturday. Once on the river, we found the fishing was good as Niko caught a fish on his very first cast! This was a sign of good things to come, as this seemed to be Niko's weekend.
He caught fish after fish on his favorite bait...the tube jig!

After catching bass, walleye and a 36" muskie on tubes, we decided to move to other areas on the river casting for muskie. I gave John one of my favorite Slippery Sams to throw and he couldn't put it down all weekend! He landed a nice 43" Friday evening on it as he was fast retriving the bait along some structure. While Jan Paul had a good strike on a Top Raider that might have got hooked if it wasn't for that weed on the hooks?

Saturday morning Niko was going into a figure 8 and a 37 incher slammed the Slippery Sam at boat side! Not long after that, I had a musky follow my buck tail but turned away. Then Niko had a hard srike out from the boat maybe 25 feet. I told him to quickly throw back and it hit again! But all the fish did was shred up the end of the rubber tail on the Sam. We went down river and fished a few trees and caught several nice walleyes, bass and big bluegills!

We went and had a great lunch at the Beach House on DuBay. After lunch we decided to try a few different areas on the lake. With the sunny skies we concentrated on wood structure. It wasn't long and we were into yet another muskie! This time it was Terry's turn and he had a nice, fat 40 incher that did a great jumps and was a hard fight along the logs and the few weeds that were there! After the release we caught up with Justin's boat and fished together for a while catching a few more walleye before we called it a day and headed in for the evening.

John Niko has been a client of mine for 16 years and has made Central Wis his favorite area for his fishing vacations and Hooksetters Guide Service to guide him and his friends! Can't wait to see him again later this year!
