6/29 Musky Hunt
We had some good action during the first few hours on Monday but as the sun got higher on the low clear water, things got tougher. The first 2 fish that came to the boat were in the mid-30’s to low 40’s but musky #3 was a mid-40’s hoss that made 1 lap around the 8 and quickly vanished. During the last 30 minutes of the day, we hit 1 last spot and Chris got smoked by a mid-30’s pike at boatside. I had a front row seat for the whole thing! It wasn’t a musky but it was the best we could do under those circumstances.
Water temps started out at 66.4 and by 2pm it was 70.3. With the HEAT DOME settling in for a few days and the holiday weekend coming up, my boat will stay put until next week. The river is currently lower than normal and I am wondering if the ACE is sitting on some water so they can increase the outflow to accommodate the heavy traffic over the 4th. We shall see.
Good luck and safe travels!
