How about Ospray nest shoreline south end of Beaver Flats?
I'll take a shot..
Dike just Northwest of dam. Before you get to the big water..
Thought this was going to be easy. Holy cow, what happened to spring? Cold, snow and high winds all weekend.
Here is another one of the same area,
Tim,
Take a look at the "Ice Out" thread. Are you and /or Flambeau Fluffy willing to declare the specific date and time of "ice-out" after it occurs?
email me if you need details.
Thanks.
Is the picture looking towards Lodge of Lakeview?
I believe you're looking at a sunrise with the power lines just above your head and Donner's Bay off to your right. Sixty days and counting!
Randy,
I still can't see the power lines, but if you can, the pic was my first hunch of coming out of Lake Bastine looking towards Donners Bay.
Tim, what say ye about the guesses and judging the "Ice-Out" contest?
Randy, your right, thought that your Dad would have gotten it. If you look to the right you can make out Fort Flambeau......
Scott, Seeing as how you disqualified us from the contest, I have no problem with having Flambeau Fluffy being the primary judge. The ice always goes out last out in front of our place.
Have a great daze,
I did have the spot and was going to log in and let you know. Then I suddenly got totally buried at work and forgot all about it. We convert documents into foreign languages here and I had a 1,500 pager land on my desk for Russian. Yipes!!!
Except when we were camping, that was the trip I made twice a day every day up there. As soon as I saw the photo, I knew where it was taken.
Great stuff Tiny!
Is campsite R-9 located on that island?
That's not it.....
Try again,
looking southwest into lake ten.
Sorry, but close......
Have a great weekend,
is that the little Island just south of the dam. Behind looks like the riprap that makes up the levy.
Close, Hint, that is a moon rise....
Have a great day,
So, are we looking east towards Beaver Flats?
If that's where the moon rises....
Where is the spot?
Island east of R-9?
Can't believe you didn't get the last one. It's one of the two small islands by the dam, you've had to go pass it many times.
Here is a new one....
Have a great day and catch the big one,
Looks like the island that is between Lake 10 and the way you go to Rat lake. There is a bigger island out of the frame to the right.
Is it the Big Island going towards the Dam , the Flowage starts to narrow at this point , back and to your right would be Al's Place ( in the olden golden days ) .
This is the very, very south end of the Flats. The water is a tad deeper here than in the Flats, hence we refer to this as the Slot. Straight behind this island leads to Rat Lake and going around this island to the right will lead you towards Lake Ten.
Beaver Creek and R-10 are to the southeast of that peninsula.
Good job Don, hope you have a great season....
Looks like I put the tip-ups away too soon,
Turtle River, Big Island, between F-4 and F-3?
this looks like up at the northern end of the lake about a mile from the mouth of the rivers. You would be looking East from the main channel. Behind this island is were Pompkos circle w road comes right along the lake.
ok, I'm at the mouth of Blair...
Mark
Try again, the prize is still to be had....
Have a great day on this Winter Wonderland Storm Watch,
Big island across from F-5. There is usually an eagle or two in the dead tree.
No, that isn't it..... Boy you'd have to go by this everytime......
Have a great weekend,
Hello , I would also say it is the Big Island in the ' old Bay ' across from Lake Bastine , the power lines would be running in back . And if this is correct , the Power Line Poles used to be on one of the small ' islands ' .
OK. In Bastine looking north at "Dee's Island" and the point of the Hiawatha Resort (nka condo proposal!).
What does Flambeau Fluffy's big book of records say for the latest ice out ever? Was it in 1996?
Have a good weekend everyone. Kathy and I will be back at cleaning carpets and wiping walls at Flambeau Vista Retreat.
Good job Timk, you'd of thought that Scott for sure would have gotten that one (see map).
Flambeau Fluffy's Big Book of Records shows that 1995 the flowage was frozen over for opening weekend. We had to trailer our boats to Murray's Landing and fish the Flambeau River. The last time was 2008, where we had ice the Friday morning before opener and it went out that afternoon.
Here is a new spot.....
Have a great day and catch the big one,
I'll take a shot.. Mud Lake
No that's not it....but thanks for trying.
Seventeen dazes until opener,
Hello , I'll try as it looks like a few places . Is it the big Island , the point across from Al's place . To your right and in back would be the Dam and to your left a large Bay that extends to the Power Lines , etc. ? Also, my brother mentioned the details on the maps you are using for the ' answered ' location are very good . Who makes the Map ?
Thank you ... we should all retire and live on the Flowage ! Always wanted to spend the entire year ' up north ' , watching the seasons change , Walleye at the Falls spawning , be able to hear the Ice when it breaks and cracks too . Have a good day !
I'm guessing that today is Flambeau Fluffy's birthday. Happy 29th!
Hi Tim, no that isn't it... The map I use is from the Turtleflambeauflowage.com site... http://turtleflambeauflowage.com/ima...apside2012.pdf
Scott, your right it's Fluffly's birthday.
Stay warm, suppose to get 3-6" of snow, Yikes,
Tiny , thanks for the Map Info . You have 3-6" of snow , we have much that in rain this morning ! You could drive a boat down some of the streets , now , if I could only find a stump to tie onto ....
