Looks like Big Mama.
George:
Is Big Mama in south central Beaver flats??? The two bumps on the sides of it are something I have not seen there, but if the water were really low, I bet they could show up...
Mark
Yay...two time in a row to post today...thread seems to be working...knock on wood. That rock looks just like the Big Mama rock in the Big Water toward Beaver Flats. It was really showing last year. I agree with George.
Big Mama is where Mark described as south central Beaver Flats. It is visible most of the time. There is another rock, however, that is due north of Big Mama, about half way to the island. That one isn't visible most of the time. On most days the only way you can locate it is by the waves spashing on it. But if it's glass..proceed with caution! We call it George's Rock because even though I knew it was there, I was lining up the next drift and not paying attention and took my lower unit off on it. Hence the name George's Rock. Did you guys know that a new lower unit for a 115 Evinrude is only $1,800? Oye!
That's it "Big Mama". The rock George is talking about we call skunk rock, because of the black and white stripes. Just when you think you know where you are and they pop-up on you. There is a rock due east, about two thousand yards of Big Mama, called Knock Rock. This is the one Porky damaged his motor on. There are all sorts of these through out the flowage. I've seen lots of people just flying wide open and then come to a complete stop (Ouch). It amazes me the they don't hit more. Its luck I guess.
Here is the new one,
Hey Tiny, Love your guess where pictures. Is there a map application you could use so us less than than familar people can see these spots on a map?I have only been enjoying the TFF for a few yrs and would like to learn more.
Thanks,Bob S.
Hey Momma, is that the island south of Bonnie's looking north?
that is the southern tip of Joe Millers' property, looking E/NE out of Bastine.
maybe.
HRG
Skunk Rock eh Tiny? Well it sure "skunked" me! :D
looks like the view from r-23, Fisherman's is to the left and Baraboo is to the right?
Good job Andy. Now for something different.
Try this one,
You are looking Northeast as you are coming from Rat Lake.
Black Tuffy, you are correct. Boy your getting good.
Let's try another,
Southwest side of long island. Your back is towards c17 i believe
Your close, but that isn't it. Scott, thought you'd of gotten this one. Its you pontoon destination. Of course it doesn't look remotely like this since the tornado went through the whole area.
Have a great day,
Yes Tim, I realize that the picture is what C-8 used to look like before the storm. Now you can't even see the picnic table due to the downed trees; however, it will come back. Kathy and I always stopped at this site on pontoon rides as it was the last camp site as we headed into 4th of July Slough before heading back to Flambeau Vista! It was truely a beautiful site that was rarely used.
Enough of the sappiness. Please challenge us with another picture. Thanks Tim. Everyone who frequents this site appreciates your efforts to keep us busy before the May opener. 31 days to go!
Scott, knew I had to shake the tree to get a response. Looks like the limit of two is taking up everybody's interest. Not too much you can do about it.
Here is another easy one,
My guess would be "around the corner"(another great watering hole) from fisherman's?
Looks like the bay just south of the powerlines on the west side of big island.
I see it took an old-timer (Gus) finally pop-up on this forum. Your close, its north of the power lines, by the Christmas tree.
Have at another one,
The entrance to Merkle from the Turtle River. It must be the warm weather causing to play hookey and look at this stuff when I should be working!
Looking west/northwest from the entrance to horseshoe. You're standing directly south of the island that is home to what is now campsite f-14
Sand bar on east side of baraboo.be on the right side coming out of springstead landing.
Gus is putting you guys/gals to shame. Good one, thought Blue would have been on that one. Being his home territory.
Here is another one,
Looking north-lake Bastine is around the corner to the left-Big Island to the right?
Good job bupa.
Here is another,
If I'm looking at this correctly...on the left hand side of the picture is the island you have to go around to get into Rat Lake?? This would be one of several little islands just out from that island.
LundAngler, you are correct. You haven't been around much.
Try this one,
Looking south from the Dollar Island area?
Looking northeast towards dollar and grassy island?
looking south along shore toward crows nest?
Your both correct, its looking south off Dollar, including Crow's Nest.
Hope this one doesn't keep you in the dark,
Tiny:
That's Moon Rise over the TFF!!! I like it when you give us easy ones like that!!!
Mark
The bay across from the old fort flambeau.
Good job Gus, thought it was a pretty cool picture. Mark, I guess you right too, good job......:-)
Here is another,
Great job on that one Gus!!! How in the H-E-double hockey sticks were you able to figure that one out.
Tiny, it just had that easterly feel to it...
As for the new one I am looking south from Baraboo...
Mark
This would be looking up the Turtle River with Lake Bastine at your back. Pine island is a bit left of center.
Sound like Winter returns for this weekend. I guess we have to get the precipitation in one form or another.
Good job Mark, your batting zero percent.
Last Saturday we were ice fishing out front and had twenty inches of ice. Looks like we'll be back into winter again. They're saying lots of snow and rain mix this weekend.
Last Sunday, Fluffy and I were sitting out front, wearing shorts and tank tops, grilling, drinking gin and tonic. Only thing missing was Scott, wifey, dogs and their pontoon boat going by. That was nice to have summer like weather for a change.
Keep up the good job,
Tiny:
Can you tell I only get to beaver flats??? My only other choice would have been on the Turtle Arm, but to say so now, well you know... I still have fun with this thread and your pics are still great to look at. Gus really did do a good job with the moon pic!!!
Mark
Tim, You and Fluffy are lucky there was a South wind on Sunday so we didn't smell the grill going. Otherwise you would of seen me, wifey(aka Kathy) and the dogs. We would have brought a cooler and a picture of the pontoon boat!
Scott
