Oak Haven Braces for an Exciting Walleye Opener

A well known local guide told me tonight that we "are the only show in town."

With ice remaining on Cass Lake, Andrusia Lake and Big Wolf Lake, Oak Haven guests will take center stage this weekend and enjoy good Walleye fishing here in these headwaters of the wonderful Mississippi River that connect the Cass Lake Chain of Nine Lakes. Major frustration for many anglers coming to this area. All of our cabins are full and good Walleye action is expected.

A few anglers will be allowed to launch here for a fee that is more than our normal charge. But we have a very limited amount of spaces to park trucks with trailers. Launch and leave is recommended. Mean people will be charged the highest fee.

A message from Oak Haven to everyone who launches here....obey the no wake speed limit in the river or you will be identified and turned in. Birds are beginning to nest up and down the river. Be nice to others, show lots of respect, smile a lot, and unless you plan to mount the fish, don't be bringing any big female Walleyes back here to the resort. Measure, take 4-5 pictures and release those big ones. Enjoy small Walleyes for supper. Protect the future of our fishing.
