First time ice fishing the flowage.

I have fished the flowage my whole life(25years), but it has always been out of a boat. A group of guys I work with wanted to take a fishing trip this winter and what better place to try but the Big Chip. Does anyone out there have any tips on where I should focus, as in weed beds, humps, bogs. I know the west side only and have plenty of places to try but you can only hit so many spots in a weekend. Looking to take a out some of.the northern and bass problem and get some Panfish on top of that. Thanks for the help.

Some good places to try for the Bass and Northerns is down in blueberry and James Slough. Another good area would be any where in Tyner. Also I think Scott lake would be good. Try the weed edges and right into any green weeds you find. Set tip ups high enough that your minnow can be seen above the weeds. Good luck and make a report here when you're done. Thanks.

Moss creek and Musky bay would be good for Pike and the traditional fall locations have been very good for crappie.

There is about 9 inches of ice in the big bays.

Thanks Pete. I gave them some wst side spots since they are familiar with the west side. I think they would feel more comfortable fishing familiar areas.

Thanks for the ideas guys! I just can't wait to give it a go. Maxx Tyner was one of the top spots I wanted to try. My dad has a place at tiger musky, would that be the best place for me to put in at? I have a few more questions how low is water level from full, and is it 4 wheeler travel only or can you get a truck out there. Thanks for all the help.

Call Moose at TMR to see if he'll allow you access there. He might not be plowing everywhere so he might not want anyone there. Other wise the access at "CC" north landing might be the place to access now. Use ATV. or snowmobile. I wouldn't drive a truck out yet. Ice is only 9-10". Not nearly enough ice. Also might have current areas in Tyner. Drill test holes as you go to make sure ice is safe. Good luck and be safe.
