Fishing for smallmouth bass remains in a state of flux. Rains of the past few days has raised the lake about an inch. Some fish are still in the spawn mode, while others are settling in on a summer pattern on the rock reefs.

Lake Conditions" Water level: Up appox. 2+ inch, Water Temp 64- 66 degrees, Water Clearity: 2-4 feet, algea bloom in certian areas of the lake causing "green water". Lake Bugs: Mayfly hatch continues, matts of bug remains are floating in many areas of the lake.

Fished last week with Bill Heussner and wife Beth Schirott, both from Wheaton, IL. Had a great day on the water, Bill and Beth landed and released over 30 smallies for the day. Fish continue to be caught on tubes and grubs. Bill caught several PB (personal best), largest going a nice 21incher. Beth fairly new to smallmouth bass fishing also caught several PB's largest a nice 20", 4lb-13 oz.

Thursday had major storm with lots of lightning and thunder blow thru dumping about 1.3 inches of needed rain. Friday while scouting noticed some bass surface feeding on mayfly's. Sensed fishing slowed a bit with post frontal conditions, new abundance of food and some fish post spawn. Sunday (fathers day) saw more rain showers leaving about .5 inches of rain.

Forcast for the week...warmer air temps, on again off again storms and bug hatch should challenge anglers. But for those anglers who get out.. catches should be good.
