Walleye fishing in the western basin is a alive and well. Capt. Mike and I were able to get out Saturday we lucked out and dodged the early morning showers. The winds were light and variable out of the west and you know what they say "west is best" for fishing. We made the long run to the north 50 and west 08 to the triangle. We picked a nice clean drift just outside the pack of boats put down some bottom bouncers and started casting. In not much time at all one of our new charter customers yelled fish on and we were in the zone. Our first drift was the most productive with some nice 3 lb + walleye. We continued to go back up and follow our GPS drift line until the bite slowed. We were able to get some nice walleye in the cooler. Capt. Mike made a adjustment and we went back to the south about a mile as the wind switched a little and we compensated for the change. All our fish today were caught drift fishing in 31 to 33 ft of water using gold blade weapons tipped with crawlwers. We also caught some on 2 oz then three oz bottom bouncers. We finished up 5 fish short of our limit which made everyone happy. Capt. Ron
