This past week has been a mixed bag weather wise. Storms, rain, overcast, sunny, strong and changing wind directions have made the lake a real challenge.

Lake conditions (6/9/09) Surface temps cooled down to 55-57 degrees earlier in the week the water temps were 61-63 degrees. Water clearity was 2-3 feet and was stained from strong N and NE winds churning the lake bottom.

Prior to this weekend the bass were developing two strong patterns. Fish were moving shallow to spawn, some were observed on beds. Main lake fish were cruising the tops of rock.

Fished Monday and Tuesday with Chuck H and Callen S both from the Omaha, Nebraska area. Monday fished all day(47degrees) in the rain and wind. These anglers made the most of pre and post frontal conditions. Fishing was TOUGH both days....By the end of Monday these accomplished anglers were able to land about 20 smallies....average size was 18". 5 largest probally averaged 4.5 lbs...had two fish over 5 lbs. Tuesday we were able to shed the rain gear and managed around 15 fish. Largest was a 5 pound 8 oz 20 inch beauty. Tube jigs fished super slow was the bait of choice. Often times strike was undectectable, you would simply lose feel of the bait or the line would simply start to swim off....line watching made the difference between fishing and catching. Thanks Chuck and Callen for hanging in there...you certainly worked hard for all your fish!

Weather forcast for the remainder of this week is looking good. Expect water temps to get back into the 60 plus degree range. With stable weather conditons fishing should improve.

Still have a few open dates in June....a great time to get that fish of a lifetime!
