Since last Fri. temp of 62*, over the last week it has been bouncing down to as low as 53* in some areas. Lake reading tonight is 60.5* after todays all day sun. But with tonights predicted low of 28* & lows in the 40's & highs only in the 60's for the next week, it doesn't look too promising for any sustained rise in water temps. Mostly male pannies tending the spawning areas. The female crappies were on the beds last Sat/Sun, but with the cool down they seem to have gone deeper waiting for it to rewarm. A few bigger 'eyes are finally being reported. Muskies have been spotty. One guest had 1-37" with 7 follows. Hopefully when Jeremy gets here, the night temps will go no lower than 55* to help hold the daytime warmup. Sure is a great time to be up here in the northwoods! And to think that this is what it looked like a month ago after two days of 18" wet heavy snow. It sure helped the lake level tho!! And a HAPPY BOITHDAY to Derek from LVD.

Hey Dave,

How's the weed growth on LVD this year? Is it like last year or is it shaping up to be "unfishable" like it was two or three years ago? Seems that with the temps you guys have been having, it's gonna be like last year.

At present, this year is shaping up to mirror last year. Unless it starts to warm soon, the weeds are still not at their normal growth rates. Last nights water temp was 57.4* with the air temp at 37.2*. We did get 7/10" of rain Sunday atleast. For the last two days the lake was steaming(losing temps) since the high yesterday was 41*. Crappies will return to the beds once the temp reaches 61* again, with the gills coming in when it gets to 67*.

Water temp tonight is still 60.8* Crappies were found in 10 fow and the gills are still out in 10-12 fow outside weed edges and over the thin grass flats.
