I Have a 6 horse kicker for my driftboat. If I put in at the Kinzua outflow any idea how far I can float down and still run up back to the boat launch without it becoming to shallow to motor through. Any help will be appreciated. I probably need a foot of water for the most part.

For the most part with an outflow of 2000 or less once you leave the hole where the launch is there is no turning back.

A guy could spend 1/2 a day fishing that hole from top to bottom right at the dam.

Hope that helps, I'm sure that wasn't the answer you wanted to hear.

Thanks. I figured as much. We can always do a car spot downriver.

2000 is cutting in close to have a foot of water over that first riffle at Dixon Island but possible......2500 would be my "safe" bet for a guy who does not know the river.

There are other areas (besides that first riffle) that will be more troublesome between the Dam and Warren.

If you can plan a float without a trip back up to the dam, that would be best at typical summer flows. I've run back up in my square back canoe at 1700ish and maybe a litle lower with a 4 HP motor but I know the water pretty well. I've also pulled my boat up through shallow areas below Warren at low flows.

I checked that first riffle on Saturday morning when the outflow was 3100 and there appeared to be at least a foot of water flowing over it.

Now, it is 7400 and you could launch a deep-V and drift through it.
