We have had a wild weather week here at Boreal Bay. Snow three times in the past 8 days - sort of sad when you need to shovel off the boat to be able to go fishing! We have had winds from every direction, some strong enough to snap off the top half of a tree in our campgrounds and the tree managed to snap a power line. In the middle of last week we even had some t-shirt weather and glass calm waters. The result is the lakes warmed up and then cooled back down - LOTW is nearing 50 degrees in Stevens Bay area and Kakagi (Crow) Lake seems to be back down to 41-43 degrees most every place right now.

Our water levels are high and plenty of drifting wood hazards this week, seems like we are seeing less and less the past couple days.

Lake Trout were great most of the week - one group had a 19 Lake Trout day and another group worked to get about 75 Lake Trout. Trolling Rapalas seemed to be the best - bank fishing worked ok some days - other type of Lake Trout also worked. Fish were again mostly between the 4-7 pound range and most groups also caught a couple 9-10 pound Lake Trout. The Lake Trout groups have struggled the past two days as the temperature has risen from about 20 to near 70 degrees in a 28 hour period.

Northern Pike - 2 groups have been trying for them a little more the past couple days and are starting to find a few 26", 35" and 40" were reported.

Walleye action was a very tough opener with COLD temps and 22MPH winds out of the north. The groups found a few nice Walleyes today - 4, 6 and 7 pound walleye were caught.

It was a special week at Boreal Bay - a 4th generation guest Lake Trout fisherman joined the club of having caught his first Lake Trout on Kakagi. Mom and Grandfather were very proud a couple of their fish are below.

One of our 80+ year old guests caught a nice trout and I managed to get a picture of a friend showing off the nice fish.

We even had a Birthday Party here for Avery who turned four this past weekend. Happy Birthday Avery!

Our youngest guest this week was Reese who just turned 1 year old a few days before coming. Reese did not catch a Lake Trout this trip, but I'm sure he will in a couple years.

It was a very fun week even with wild weather and a tough bite a few of the days.

Regards,
