Not quite totally open, but guys are coming out of Young's Bay and sneaking around American Point to get to the islands. So based on my standards......

Still around 25 miles of ice out of Warroad, so not open by a long ways by my standards. Whitefish Bay is still full of ice, but I'm hopeful that by the week end I'll be fishing trout.

Suppose to be nice and warm tomorrow with SE winds, that should push the ice around a little. Pretty much normal ice out the way it looks. Water levels are high.

Man. What a difference a day makes. The wind goes back north, this whole thing is over. Until next December that is.

Believe it or not I can still see lots of ice on the big lake, but it looks like most of the island section is open, including Whitefish Bay. The big part of the LOTWs is slow to lose it's ice. Hope to head for Whitefish in the AM.

Here's Modis today. Another good view.

You should see the 5 acre icebergs floating by right now.

Why yes it is. Was worried for a bit with the pack ice moving around. At one point, it was from here to Blackbird Island. And all the way to Sunset. Pretty much dissolving in place. Another example of global warming.

What a difference a few days make. I knew as soon as we lost the cloud cover, we would see an open lake. Subject closed until December.
