Anglers fishing the Allegheny River near the mouth of Bull Creek had been catching walleyes, some reportedly as large as 12 pounds, up until a week or so ago, said Matt DeMichele of Allegheny Bait and Tackle in Tarentum. The fish had been hitting jigs and minnows. In other areas, Shore anglers were releasing walleyes and saugers on bucktail jigs at Highland Park. Anglers also were catching walleyes, crappies and a few smallmouth bass at Lock 2 and Lock 3 yesterday.

The Ohio River gave up a very nice musky recently, according to Wayne Lykens of Island Firearms. The fish, caught near the mouth of Big Sewickley Creek, weighed more than 32 pounds and stretched more than 45 inches. It was released back into the river. In other areas, Anglers were releasing walleyes and a couple of bass, mostly in small sizes, on jigs and Twister tails. Most of the action was below Dashields.
