Because of water temperatures being cooler than desired, fishing is spotty. While the bite has not been ideal, there has been occasional success in typical spring areas. Crappies have been active by the Naut-i-Gal bridge, bluegills and the occasional crappy bite can be found at Mendota County Park, Pheasant Branch Creek, Marshall Park Lagoon, Spring Harbor, and the Creek in University Bay. Catfish in the Yahara and Six Mile River action has also been slow. The best action on Lake Monona seems to be at Winaqua Park, although the majority of the fish are on small side. Viking Park by Stoughton has on occasion produced some nice bluegills, action continues to be spotty. There have been reports of crappies on Lake Wisconsin in the fingers near Harmony Grove and near Okee Bay. Walleye action has been decent in the Wisconsin River up by the Wisconsin Dells.
