Dave and I had a tough tourney at the Cave, thanks to Mother Nature! The harsh cold front that blew in down there on Friday completely changed our pre-fishing pattern, and we were not able to boat a fish during the event. We had two main spots wired (with fish up to forty inches) by Thursday, only to see the muskies disappear after the major front passed through. Teams that fished the river had better success than us teams in the main lake due to the river fish being less affected by the major weather change in all honesty. Congrats to Crash and Justin for their forty incher (5th Place and Ranger Cup award). We raised a bunch of muskies pre-fishing on white Super Stalkers and gliders like Mantas and Hellhounds, and I raised one low 30's caliber fish on a Rattle Trap on the flats. Water temps were anywhere from fifty-two to fifty-five degrees, but no warmer than that throughout the weekend. We'll sweep this one under the rug and get focused for the Fox lake Chain tournament coming up in a month.
