I went out alone this morning for a few hours and had a fun day. I did a little rigging first, then made a few trolling passes. Wound up catching and releasing 26 walleyes. 7 keepers, 2 in the slot at 25"s, 17 "shorties".
No musky today. The water temp hit 40 degrees when I left. Next week should be good. Temperatures mid week thur the weekend are forcasted in then 50's.
The males are starting to milk!
Now is the time to go if want some good action.

Keep a tight line!!!

Jerry

We met you at the Madison fishing Expo! We have a permanant site at the Buckhorn( live between Jvl and Milton) and just started fishing Castle Rock last year. We do a lot of trolling but still learning.We are heading up the 16th when the kids are on Spring Break ! Any advice you could give us would be apriciated. My 10 year old would love to catch some walleye. I told him how you did Sat and he said "Lets go now "

Hi Firsty;
The ice just left the lake a few days ago so the bite there will be a little tough. Try jigging around the trestle or near the Petenwell Dam at Highway 21 or below the Castle Rock Dam. The water is still low so watch for stumps and sand bars.

Morning Jerry,

Have you been fishing on Castle Rock then or the river ? We usually use the launch by the Buckhorn bridge.

I am still in the river above "Pete". I have heard they are getting some nice fish around the Buckhorn bridge though. The water is low.
