I thought you guys might get a kick out of this. I have since moved down to Port Washington, WI and have had quite the year catching big steelhead and browns through the ice. I almost forget what a walleye even looks like...

Those are some nice looking fish. Hope they put up as good of a fight thru the ice as they do in open water. Where abouts in the area can a person find these fish thur the ice.

Great looking fish

You can catch them in any harbor on Lake Michigan where they are planted. The nearest place that I have seen fish caught out of would be the Menominee River. I don't see why you would not be able to catch them in the Ford or Cedar. I have tried the Cedar River marina and have only caught Pike and Panfish, but I am sure they are in there some where.

I think I've only caught 4 browns in the past 2 years fishing the bay out of Cedar River. I did do pretty decent on steelhead this year catching about 35 though! I just don't think the numbers are there for a consistent bite....but I've been wrong before!

PS: Very nice fish....looks like alot of fun!

Damn nice fish, I love trout, and the way they fight. I'd love to catch a few through the ice, getting the urge to eat some trout lately!!!:D

How far out are you when fishing Port Washington and can you walk out there from shore?? How is the ice?? Would it be safe and easy enough to walk out there with a couple of guys and thier 12 year kids??

You can only ice fish PW when it is really cold and they forget to turn on the bubblers. Most of my fish were caught out of Sheboygan Marina/River and Racine Marina. As far as how far to walk and ice. Right now... there is 15+ inchs and walking distance any where from 10 to 300 feet.
