Escanaba, Mich. to Host 2009 BASS Federation Nation Northern Divisional in August

BASS announced today the 2009 BASS Federation Nation Northern Divisional presented by Yamaha Motors and Skeeter Boats will be held in Escanaba, Mich., on Aug. 12-14. The Northern Divisional encompasses anglers from eight states and will directly qualify eight anglers to the BASS Federation Nation Championship presented by Yamaha Motors and Skeeter Boats, the world championship of amateur bass fishing.

The Big Bay de Noc and Little Bay de Noc will be the tournament waters while the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau will serve as the local organizing committee. The Divisional tournament will be the first BASS event to be held in the city.

“We are excited about coming to Escanaba and enjoying all that the destination and fishery has to offer,” said Jamie Wilkinson, senior director, event operations and business development for BASS. “We are pleased to be working with the Bays de Noc Convention and Visitors Bureau on this event.”

Anglers will compete from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

The Northern Divisional is a three-day tournament with the highest cumulative weight determining the overall champion and state qualifiers for the Federation Nation Championship. The highest placing angler from the Northern Divisional at the BASS Federation Nation Championship will earn a coveted spot in the 2010 Bassmaster Classic.

Additionally, the Junior Bassmaster Divisional will be held in conjunction with the Divisional. The Juniors, representing the same eight states, will compete in two age divisions, 11-14 and 15-18, with the individual champions qualifying for the 2009 Junior Bassmaster World Championship.

Still not the Elite series that was originally to take place. My bad on thinking FLW was taking it's place. Mid August is a much better time frame than Late July. Maybe 2010.
