Paul,
I hope you don't mind me posting this here. I think people need to be made aware of the on-going problem we face every winter in our area.

This is why spearing shouldn't be allowed on our BROOD lake. This is a very common problem and we have caught fish that have survived encounters like this.

Very sad and definately a problem that needs to be stopped.

Click on the following link to view the fish:http://www.forum.minnesotawaterfowle...ic.php?t=12471

Contact our DNR Office and tell them that this needs to stop:

Bemidji Area Fisheries Office
2114 Bemidji Avenue
Bemidji, MN 56601
218-308-2339
bemidji.fisheries@dnr.state.mn.us

Please take one minute out of your day and give them a call or send a quick e-mail to our local office and tell them that spearing on Musky Brood Lakes needs to cease.

Thanks for the info Kevin. Heck no I don't mind, I'm really glad you posted that information. It's important to spread awareness and call people to action when something like this happens. I for one hadn't heard of that particular spearing incident and I'm glad you brought it up. The timing is unfortunately ironic. A buddy of mine over in WI sent photos of a pile (and I really mean pile) of muskies that were speared by the tribe on Bone Lake. Both incidents are very, very unfortunate.

Folks, listen up. Click the link that Kevin provided and read the story and look at the photos. Then, don't stop there, take five minutes and shoot an e-mail to the DNR. It will take only five minutes. Only five minutes is a pretty small investment of your time to make sure your voice is heard. Be sure to send that e-mail to the DNR. I already have.
