Hitting Chautauqua Lake on Wednesday for some fun fishing and then guiding clients on Fri/Sat/Sun chasing Allegheny River muskies.

Good luck to all the crazies hitting the water over the holiday.

Happy Thanksgiving!

After spending several hours removing snow from my unpaved driveway just to get the boat out, I also had to remove some snow and salt my local launch before I could even fish yesterday.

I ended up fishing about 8 miles from my launch and moved 0 fish in 2.5 hours.

Water temps North of Warren are 44-45 and Southern temps are 37 due to the influence of the Conewango Creek, which is essentially the outflow of Chautauqua Lake. Northern river temps are 3-4 degrees colder than this time last year.

Chautauqua Lake should be seeing some skim icing there very soon. Snow forecasted every day for the next 4 days. Winter is here and it is still November!

My client hit a 36-inch musky yesterday at 4:24pm after a full day of casting. I had to cut 5 of 9 hookpoints to get the fish unbottoned. Knipex hookcutters are a must!

Water has really cleared up both North and South of Warren which could be why our fish was caught just before dark. The wave action and snow showers made things difficult in seeing if we had any follows.

Heading out soon with 2 regular clients......Bob S. and his wife, Wendy for 2 days of musky hunting. We will go back to some BIG fish spots and see if we can cast one up.

No fish or sightings yesterday. We fished from 8-5. Casted the first 5 hours and trolled the remainder of the day into first dark.

These seem like strange conditions for late November with the low clear water. We landed a couple decent bass and hooked one musky and a mystery fish that ended up lost in a snag. Water temps and weather have most likely put an end to any more active bass. I bet today's weather (Sunday) is going to be fun!

I hit the water on French Creek today for some shore fishing and did not have any luck at the main spot (creek inflow to main) but decided to work my way up the small creek to see what was up there. Came to a nice little area where there used to be an old bridge and a small area of deep water. I threw a suick and worked it across where the current met the still water and had a nice follow by a 30" +- who took interest in my figure 8 then went swimming away just as slow as it had followed. Next cast same follow, little more interest and after a half hearted open mouth bump it felt hooks, shook it's head and went back to the depths. Left it alone for a while, switched baits, no interest and decided it was a good Idea to go home and get my hunting gear ready for the big day. For all those hitting the woods tomorrow good luck!

We fished from dawn to dusk yesterday trolling mostly but did spend a couple of hours casting. We did have a quick rip trolling but no fish to show for it. 3 straight days of fishing and did not raise a pike, which is very strange for this time of year.

Bob and Wendy fished as hard as I did both days but we just could not get a musky or pike in the net..........effort was definitely NOT lacking!

River is very clear with water temps North of Warren at 43 and South temps are 37.
