Red Childress

We chased muskies on the 11th and big walleye (mostly) on the 13th. Both days were very tough and the first days I have fished in several weeks. The first thing I noticed on Saturday morning was how clear the river is. Wow. We usually have a strong green color flowing right after the ACE begins to switch over the ouflow gates from a top draw to a bottom draw. Apparently, with the Rez being so low this Fall, the green algae bloom didn’t develop or had been pushed thru earlier this Fall. Plus, the creeks are low and clear and simply no off colored water to work with.
Now, we have to deal with this super clear water for the rest of the year. We caught a couple walleye and saw 1 fish over 10 pounds but spooked right at boatside. The musky fishing was very tough and we had zero sightings. I am not sure what the deal was but fish/baitfish were very scarce and things were very dead out there. Birds of prey also.
Good luck and stay tuned!
