After a few days off the water, I was back out on Thursday and tried a little drifting with two rods rigged with slip bobber along with 1/16th ounce jigs, one tipped with 1/2 crawler and the other with medium size fatheads. With a decent NW wind blowing, I drifted over 5 foot deep water with mud bottom mixed with lots of submerged sticks and logs. In two different drifts, I boated 2 decent perch, one big crappie and 7 eyes, 2 of which were 18 and 19 inchers. Friday, I was out with 3 good friends for a half day and we had pretty good walleye action. Working a good number of spots, we found many active eyes in 10 feet of water, one spot was over a sand bottom while the other top spot was over mud with lots of downed timber/stumps etc. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with either 1/2 crawler or fatheads, we boated a very good number of eyes, 8 of which were very good quality along with a few smallies, pike and perch. Good time gang.
Back out today for another half day trip, will keep you posted.
