View Full Version : Guess that spot

Hello to all,

The reason I didn't start this post was there wasn't a very good following last year.

Currently we're in a winter storm again. Suppose to get up to sixteen inches of snow. At this rate we'll be driving trucks on the flowage for opener.

Here is one to get the juices flowing,

In the back bay across from Donners looking south, the Dam would be to your left

Thanks Tiny for starting up this thread again this year. I really enjoy it!

Thanks Tiny. We really needed this today.

I think Yunk is pretty close.

If it's true it would only be because I launch my boat at sportsmans!

Could it be down in the beaver flats, maybe near shore?

I'll give it a crack. I think it's just slightly south-east of Sportsmans Landing (but in the same bay). To get to the dam you'd have to go up (to the right in the picture) to main water and go further south-east.

Don't get your hopes up Yunk. Tiny fools me 90% of the time! LOL

I would say it is at the old sportmans landing

I'm going to try elsewhere
One of the bays off of Lake Ten area? Dike would be at your back looking at stump.

When heading out from the resorts towards the Big Waters you pass the dam. After that are 2 islands
that most boats travel between. This photo is off the shore of the island on the left facing southwest. The Beaver Flats are off screen across the Big Waters to the left.

Looks like skywalker11 is the best guess.

Glad to see all you good people are still following. Sorry I'm so late in keeping this up to date. Fluffy has so many chores to do. We're almost out of firewood and I'm trying to make new for this next winter. Hard to make firewood when your dealing with subzero weather and three feet of snow.

Can't believe Opener is less than two weeks away. There are small open holes near shore, but the bays are still locked in.

Here is another one,

Getting old-timers, the picture of the stump, was taken from shore, near Beaver Creek, facing northwest.

Campsite near Rat Lake.

*Did my homework on this one.

BertRobert1 is on the ball.

Got a dusting of snow last night. With all the cold weather it doesn't look like the ice will be out by opener.

East of lake Bastine over the river channel, looking west toward the opening of lake Bastine?

The Fox

I agree, looking to the north west of the Island at the entrance into Lake Bastine,.

Good job, boy are we in a white out. Snowing so hard you can't see the Big Island.

I emailed the site owners last week about the problems and was told "they are working on it".

luv2brw, you sure got that one......

Well it's in the 30's, with rain/snow and suppose be that way all week. At this rate the ice won't be out until June.

Catch the big one,

Great job Mark,

Rained all night, no snow (thank God). Water is up to almost full, but the ice is not breaking up.

Keep your stick on the ice,

Tiny, are you looking South into Beaver Flats?

Thanks Scott, but that's not it. I've moved on to other areas.

The island in picture is just up-river(north) from pink rock?

The Tiny Fisherman

Goods like skywalker11 knows the flowage, excellent.

Temps are in the mid 30's with lots of rain. The normal areas that should be open are not. Like the bays and shoreline along the Big Island. No big gaps in the main ice, for the wind to move around. Looks like we'll be land bound this opener.

Have a great day,

Tiny: Does "guess that spot" end on May 3rd or at "ice-out"?
