Hi everyone,

On this sun splashed chilly October morning the CFAPOA and the LCFRA in a joint effort began this years Extended Growth Walleye stocking program. Thanks to all who contributed to the fund raising efforts by these two fine organizations, we were able to recieve the first installments of extended growth walleyes from Gollons fish hatchery located in Dodgeville WI. They delivered 3600 EGW to Deerfoot lodge and put them in at their boat landing at 11:30 this morning. That was followed by another 3600 EGW being planted in at the Hay Creek public boat landing.

There will be another delivery this Thursday with 3600 EGW put in at The Landing Resort's boat landing at 11:00 A.M. followed by another 3600 to be put in at The Lake Chippewa Campground's landing. That will be followed up by another delivery on Friday of 1800 EGW put in at Crane Lake, 3600 EGW put in at Tiger Musky's boat landing, and a final installment of 3600 EGW put in at Timberlake lodge on Chief lake. The total for this year stands at just over 23000 EGW being planted. With an average of over 20000 per year in the previous three yers puts the total for these two fine organizations at almost 90000 EGW being planted into the Big Chip in a four year period.

This year we will be recieving an additional 38000 EGW from the WI. DNR through the Wisconsin Walleye initiative program announced by Gov. Walker a few months ago. It is a pleasure to see the DNR and the state of WI. take an active roll in bringing our walleye fishery back up to where it should be. On that line of thought, the DNR will be holding three hearings across the state of WI. to recieve input from the public on the Walleye Initiative program. The one to be held in Hayward will be Oct. 15 at 7 P.M. at the Hayward H.S. auditorium. Please attend and give your insight to further help in this program. Good luck fishing everyone and again thanks to all who contributed to this very worth while project.
