Hi everyone,

Shared my boat with a young family out of Treelands resort yesterday. In the morning mother and son Nikki and 9 year old brandt and in the afternoon father and daughter Bill and 7 year old Avery. We ventured out under mostly sunny skies with a modest west wind with chilly air temps that warmed up nicely into the 70's. The water temps remain at 69 degrees and with the somewhat stable water temps, the fish were fairly active.

In the A.M. Brandt wanted to do some musky fishing and with a little coaching he was casting the big musky bait like a pro. He got wore out after an hour but did have a musky take a swipe at his bait. The rest of the morning and all afternoon we all fished for walleyes. Fishing the deep sunken wood using both types of my lead-free jigs, we found walleyes, lgm bass, crappie, bluegills, perch, rock bass, and northern. Most fish were fooled by lead-free jigs and minnows, including all the walleyes, while the leeches only produced a few fish. Both Avery and Brandt caught thier first ever walleyes as we hauled in a total of 6 walleyes keeping 4. Bill did honors with a nice 21"er. We lost more fish then we caught but still had a very heavy stringer by days end. When you take a look at the picture of the kids trying to lift the heavy stringer, remember that is why we need to go lead-free, for our childrens and grandchildrens sake. good luck fishing everyone.
