Hi everyone,

Guided Rod and Sue along with their Daughter and Grandson yesterday for a full day out of Chippewa Pines resort. I picked them up in a thick fog which stayed around for a good two hours. It was cool enough to require a sweat shirt until the sun came out from behind the clouds. Then it was time to peel off layers of clothes as it got down right hot for the rest of the day.

I took Rod and his Daughter Chrissy in the A.M. and Sue and Grandson Tony after lunch. In the morning we caught a lot of crappies on lead-free jigs and minnows and only a few walleyes. Walleyes hit the leeches. In the afternoon we caught mostly walleyes with a few crappies, perch, northern, rock bass, and bluegills. We released everything except for the bigger crappies and perch.

For most of the day the wind was just a mild breeze from the SW. But by late afternoon the wind swithced from the North enough to make a decent walleye chop and that is when we caught the most walleyes. The surface water temps were 73 in the A.M. but rose to 83 by the time we were through. Saw some more bugs hatching although not a ton of them. These were real small white bugs. Fished the deep wood pattern again with a basin soft bottom spot that did produce some of the walleyes. As the soft bottom basin becomes more productive, drifting will be a good way to cover water to catch the roaming walleyes. Good luck fishing everyone.
