Back out on the water yesterday after finally getting new electronics installed on my boat after falling tree incident, and a great few hours it was. Despite a big mayfly hatch going on in the area we were fishing, my client and I found several eyes that were willing to grab our 1/16th ounce Reeves weedless jigs tipped with a half crawler. Working wooded areas in 6 to 8 feet of water, we found all of our eyes relating to the bottom and willing to take the bait regardless of their tummies full of mayflies. We probably could have caught many more if we were using a fly rod with a dry fly as many fish were hitting the surface feeding on the newly hatched mayflies. Didn't have the time to try other areas due to the storms moving in.
Back out the next two days, will keep you posted.
