Weather conditions the last two days went from cool and rainy with a SE wind on Sunday to hot, bright sky's and little or no wind on Monday. Big difference in the weather and also big difference in the location of walleye and panfish. Doing a half day trip on Sunday, my clients and I were on fish right off the bat as we worked shallow 4 to 6 feet of water over submerged stumps. Walleye, crappie and perch were all in these areas and were all taken on 1/16th ounce Reeves weedless jigs tipped with mud minnows. Monday found the walleye and jumbo perch holding tight to the bottom in 10 to 14 feet of water over laid down timber and stumps. A very slow retrieve was needed as these fish were not in the chasing mood, but still willing to grab a slow moving snack. Both fatheads and 1/2 crawlers worked for walleye, and crawlers were the ticket for the perch. My 3 clients and I called it a day at 2PM with a live well holding our limits of nice eyes and 17 jumbo perch.
