Took my neighbor out for a boat ride today 5/17. Launched at South Shore, trolled St Francis area for a short while, then pulled lines, and headed to the Bender Park area. Went 7 for 12, lost 4 at rear of boat due to rough water, and a malfunctioning Dipsey that refused to trip.
Got two fish on a small Moonshine orange w/ copper back on a dipsey with 18ft of line out, other dipsey had orange flasher/w blue and white peanut fly. Old faithful, the Whiskey nose fly took 3 fish on two colors of lead core behind a planer board. Then the whitecaps and rain arrived, long slow ride back to South Shore in 3ft seas. We fished between the Bender Launch and the boils, 18-21 fow. 2.2-2.4 mph worked the best for us (GPS speed). All nice Coho, 2 1/2 to 5 lb. The skies really opened up as we were cleaning the fish at 9:30. The weather-guessers missed by 8 hours on the rain forecast. Did not want to chance Bender Launch with my boat after hearing how shallow it is. We launched at 6am, headed to Bender at 7.
