Tuesday's warm up along with the mini rain clouds passing thru really had the walleye and smallmouth on a feeding frenzy. My clients and I spent the day catching and releasing 55 of the 61 eyes we boated. Using 1/8th ounce Reeves weedless jigs tipped with large fatheads, we worked deep water, 14 to 18 foot with rocky bottom. The eyes were holding tight to the bottom and a very slow retrieve was the ticket to catching them. Although the majority of the fish we caught were in the 12 to 14 inch class, we did put our six in the well that ranged from 15 to 23 inches. We also spent some time working one of my favorite smallmouth spots and it paid off big time as we boated 7 off this one spot alone. This spot is just a 10 foot deep flat with some scattered stumps but it holds good numbers of smallies, summer and winter. We worked a few other spots and picked up a few more here and there. All in all, it was an action packed day.

Back out on Thursday, will keep you posted.
