There are several fish plants scheduled for Delta County this spring! We have a significant Brown Trout plant this afternoon, (Wednesday,4-17-2013) about 3:30 pm at the Bark River. If anyone wants to help or witness the plant, please come.
I'll try, in the future, to keep you all informed of the plants at least a day in advance.
The last two weeks the Manistique River received Coho, Brown Trout, and Rainbow Trout.

Great to hear, Dave! Did they plant the browns in the river or offshore? Keith W. from the M&M Club talked about some recent successes in the brown plants by the WI DNR out in front of the Menominee that have had positive returns. Great video on it here:

Hi, Yes I did see the video last week! And Jim Dexter, Fisheries Chief said he watched the video also!
We are working on getting the MI. DNR to change their stocking methods, but it's not easy to get a bureaucracy to change the way they do things! I have photo's of the plant today, but the webmaster tells me allowed to post them!

I've been notified that the Bark River will be getting a plant from the Oden Hatchery in the L.P. These will be Brown Trout originally scheduled for Kobasic's Harbor (still iced in). The plant will be on Wed. April 24th, most likely in the afternoon.

Another trout plant update from Dave Westerberg -

Today we received 35,000 Wild Rose strain of Brown trout from the Oden Fish Hatchery near Petoskey in Lower Michigan. The total so far this year is 63,000 Brown Trout planted in the Bark River and no one is fishing off the mouth of the river! Mike Zudima, Tim Fournier, and myself helped the drivers of the three trucks unload the fish. Photo's are of Mike Zudima supporting the tube from the truck!
