I haven't been out in several weeks. I'm wondering how the perch fishing is going. Also wondering what the ice conditions are like. Thinking about making one last trip. ......maybe this weekend. Any info would be great. Thanks in advance.

Generally, the reports have been good. I went out from Kipling yesterday. Access was pretty sloppy, and so was the area where you drive over Butler's Island. Once you are past that, the ice is in very good shape and it's easy driving.

I fished in 40 FOW with wigglers on perch rigs. Landed 12 perch and a small walleye. Ended up keeping all but one of the perch.

If you go out of the Kipling launch, be sure to hang to the left. People have broken through on the shallow gravel bar on the right, (where the sticks are poking out of the water.)

Fished out of there Friday night. Lots of trucks on the ice, but I think it was the last trip out this winter for me, with the truck. Ice is getting pretty bad around the boat launch and Butler's island. Should be good for quads, sleds, and foot traffic for a while, yet.

Bite was much slower for me this trip, only landing 5 fish. Marked good numbers, they just didn't want to bite.

I too went out last night. Caught a few little dinks. I was north towards the end of the island just before the crack. I took my son (8) and daughter (5) as well as my friend and his daughter (8). So it wasn't the quality of fish we were after as much as the quality of memories. My daughter and my friends daughter out fished us. Lol it was my friends daughters first ice experience. She had a blast. Minnows seemed tone the better choice last night. Got more bites on them last night than wigglers. We were only in 14 fow.

this is a picture of my 5yr daughter and her prized catch. She was so proud of herself......and so was I. ;)
