...it's what's for dinner!

Monday night was the first time I've been walleye fishing in a month! Haven't had much time to fish with the shop being so busy, but when I've had time, it's either -20 degrees or there's 30MPH wind!

Last night was perfect - light wind, warm temps, and good ice. I drove my truck off the Gladstone harbor, (measured 13 inches of good ice.) We had several reports over the weekend from people fishing in the narrows, saying they were marking lots of fish, but they weren't biting very good, (sounded pretty typical for that spot.)

I set up on the outside edge of the colony of shacks, in about 33 FOW. Started marking fish before I even had a line in the water. Ended the evening landing three walleye - two shorts and one 17 incher. All the fish I landed were on a #9 Glow Hot Perch Jigging Rap. Missed a few more fish on that bait last night, as well as a couple more misses on a #8 Snap Rap. If I would have hooked everything that bit, it would have been a pretty good night on the ice.

Do you use any meat on the jigs?

I fish them plain - no bait. Most people tip the treble hook with a minnow head.
