Fished the river via canoe with my young son. Good water level, no problems there. Caught about 20 smallies, most of these were 15 - 16.5", no muskies, no walters. Lots of sturgeon breaching and cannonballing, my son really got a charge out of that. Smallies hit my small musky bucktail, and my son's jig and crawler. Conditions the first day were hot and sunny, then a big drop in temps and rained all day Wed. It made no difference in the bite. Some nice, easy whitewater for my son to experience, though we had left a paddle at home so it was a little more challenging for one guy to maneuver and old aluminum square stern. The bugs were much better than a couple weeks ago, no horse flies, mosquitos weren't that bad though you still need to have the juice handy come evening. Good burgers and hummingbird watching at the Midway.

I have always enjoyed the hummingbird observations at Donners Bay , Midway and Camp 1. At Camp 1 Cathy can fill her feeders more than once a day. I have seen no less thatn 10 or 15 birds waiting for a spot at their feeders in August when I was up Bear Baiting . Really great out doors. :)
