July Fishing Report 8-15

Just giving a report for all those that didn't have to drive home today :(

We fished a variety of species while we were there. We started the trip muskie fishing and picked up two the first night we were there ( Two hours fishing). I was thinking it was going to be a killer muskie trip, but we ended up with a total of four between two for the trip. We started to see more fish in the last few days. We weren't seeing the fish we had hoped, so we switched over to walleyes and crappies for most of the days. Walleye were going pretty good and the crappies weren't bad either. Got a limit of very nice crappies in a hour yesterday (12"-13.5"). The crappies were relating to bug hatches in the mud, depth didn't really seem to matter. Walleyes were still on reefs for the most part. I will say, I have never seen so many big perch w/o worms. Lots of 12" inchers running around. I wish I was there one more week to hit a few of those muskies that were starting to get feisty. Back up in September. Can't wait.

My first time fishing Sabaskong will be saturday. Nic, or anyone for that matter, care to share any of your perch spots? I'm mostly musky fishing, but wouldn't mind a few perch for shore lunch. Any. Information is appreciated. Thanks!

Most people catching perch with their walleyes....have been told over the years that you can try sliding out a bit deeper than you have been catching your walleyes and have a better chance at some perch. not sure that will help, but give it a try.
