The past week has seen some pretty good walleye action despite all the fronts moving thru and the lingering mayfly hatch, yes I said mayfly hatch, saw plenty of them again yesterday. For the most part, the best bite has been in depths of 8 to 15 ft. over submerged timber. Whether vertical jigging or casting and jigging, the key has been keeping your jig & 1/2 crawler as close as possible to the bottom and also a very slow retreive. One thing about the bite, it's been very light and many times hard to detect, it's just like added weight to the end of your line, if it's moving with you set the hook. Yesterday for example, we had clear bright sky's and what breeze we had changed directions dozens of time during the day, and the eyes were glued to the deeper bottom all day but were still feeding, just takes lot's of patience.
