Is the Mayfly hatch over? Coming up Wens. for a week of 12oz. curls cabin repair and fishing. Maybe I'll hire someone for the cabin repair.

We were just up there from this past Wed-Sunday. As of Saturday night, it sounded like leaves fluttering in the wind, till you looked up and saw the clouds of mayflys! Found some nice perch underneath driftwood in bays during the days and did get lucky with some Walleye that last hr before dark each evening. Perch caught on Chartreuse Cubbies tipped with a 1/2" piece of crawler under bobber. Walleyes caught on Reeve's weedless jigs tipped with a 1/2 crawler. These were caught jigging the shorlines that dropped from 2' -9' next to reed weeds. Also ran into a lot of nice Smallies during the days while fishing with leeches and crawlers. Didn't have much luck with minnows, seemed that either crawlers or leeches did the trick. Biggest Walleyes we caught were 22" & 18" with most in the 10-13" range
Overall, it was hard work catching fish due to the Mayfly's. The past two years now we've had our trip during this period, and we are seriously considering coming earlier in May or holding out till September for our annual fishing trip!
