We arrived on Saturday, June 2nd to bluebird skies and dead calm water. It was like that Sat, Sun, and Monday with temps in the mid 70's and low 80's. The walleyes have been tough for us but the smallies and pike have really been on fire. The smallies are on the spawn (for the most part) and really active. The pike we have caught have been on the points where we have been looking for our walleyes. Dad caught a 37" and we had on in the net yesterday and as we went to get the camera it burrowed its way out of the net leaving a large hole in the rubber net we use for salmon/coho. Needless to say it was much larger than the 37'' that we caught in the walleye net today.
Today the winds picked up and the walleye fishing did as well. We ran south through the narrows and did much better. Dad caught a 27", 24 1/2" and a 24" walleye and we did not catch anything under 17" in the walleye category. The smallies were again cooperative with the largest going 18". Very fun day and the wind certainly helped our fishing. We casted plastics and crankbaits on the windblown shorelines for the walleyes and the twister tails for the smallies. Looks like the same weather for tomorrow. Will try to update again soon.
