Based on the water temps around here, it is probably getting close to spawn time everywhere south of Franklin.....has anyone seen any indication of musky spawning down that way??

Like it was a question directed to me. Water temps peaked at 60 degrees. as of tuesday were at 58. favorite spot for spawning fish is being messed with and i don't want to be too specific as to how and give it away. Last musky I caught was march 10th in 41 degree water. Maybe these fish are otherwise occupied (spawn) or I'm having trouble transitioning to a new season after winter. Walleye are biting however after what had to be a rushed spawn with water jumping from 40 to 60 degrees in two weeks. If I remember right musky spawn is usually 50-60 degrees?

Just read a post on PA musky free forums about a couple of muskies getting rough with each other in the shallows. You have to sign in to view forum.

Yea, you are right about the spawning temp range. I am pretty sure our pike are loving one another cuz we have only seen 1 in 4 days.

Even with the water temps rising quick i was still catching pre spawn walleye females at this time last week before the water level rose.

I wonder if the walleyes will still spawn or reabsorb the eggs.

Everything that was going to spawn will spawn.........just earlier than normal. There is always a small percentage of fish that will re-absorb each year.

Water temps were 48-49 this morning and 49-50 this afternoon in the Rockland-Emlenton area. We managed one fat 31" pike and one fat 40.5" musky. We also raised 2 more pike, one of which followed 3 times and struck the bait twice within ten feet of the boat. I think these fish were all pre-spawn? All fish were moved with Bluegill color glide baits.

A friend of mine just told me that Chautauqua temps had dropped 12 degrees in the past 10 days or so.

We were trying to fish for crappie, didn't go so well, I guess I'm not a crappie fisherman. I would of been able to find muskies easier I think!!!
We did end up with 15 or so perch that made the family happy. It made me feel better about the $15 worth of minnow I bought too.
