Fishing picked up this weekend with reports of 10"-13" crappies throughout the flowage. Walleyes also decided to unlock their jaws and have been going on sporadic feeds throughout the day, not just at dusk. A lot of small northerns are also out there stealing the bait, but it keeps folks running for flags and they are great pickled. Ice depths range from 14"-24".

The trails are what one might expect given the warm temps; however, they are rideable and the only open trails in the state. They are listed from poor to good condition. The great news is that the forecast calls for a wet heavy snow starting Monday night through Tuesday and again on Thursday. This will create some great late winter snow conditions and some super riding.

Don't forget the TFFA Claus Kraetke Memorial Ice Fishing Jamboree this Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012. There are Cash Prizes for the three largest Northern, Walleye, Bass, Crappie and Perch. New this year is that for every fish registered, you will get a ticket for a fantastic raffle prize to be drawn at about 4:15 pm. Contest fishing is from 7:00 am-4:00 pm and it only costs $5 to enter. All entrants and non-anglers who buy tickets have the chance to win a Remington 770 7MM w/ 3x9 scope, Vehicle Graphics Package from Signature sign of Butternut and a Nook Color that you need not be in attendance to win.. There will also be plenty of other on ice raffles and silent auction, along with food/beverages in the heated tent in front of Donner Bay Resort. Our area businesses have been extremely generous, so there is a plethora of prizes. You may wish to bring a pick-up truck or trailer to haul home the booty! Proceeds of this event go to the support, promotion and enhancement of the Turtle-Flambeau Flowage.
