The walleye action has now picked up with good catches reported off of Sportsmans Landing in 6'-8' of water on tip-ups with golden shiners. A few are also being caught in the Lake Bastine are off the sand bar in front of Flambeau Vista Retreat. Action is best from one hour prior to sunset until one hour after sunset. Some crappies are also being caught in abought 20' of water off of Pine Island. Ice depths remain at about 10" with ATVs and snowmoviles traveling without a problem. Some brave souls are bringing trucks on the ice, but extreme caution is advised.
The trails have held up surprisingly well with the warm temps. with a 10"-12" base thanks to last weeks snowfall. Snowmobilers are reporting fair to good trail conditions. The best riding is reported to be on trails #9 and #14. There are 18 miles of good riding on the Flowage trail that has been marked. An area of slush is reported near Big Island by Pink Rock. Lake effet snow of 1/2"-1" falls most nights to keep thing tidy. The groomers are out each weeknight keeping thing in great shape. All groomers are volunteers and put in 6-8 hours per evening from their own time. Please support their efforts by putting a few dollars in the "trail pigs" found at most businesses.
