We have a solid 4 to 8 inches of ice on most area lakes now, Some fishermen are starting to run atvs on some of the area lakes. The walleye bite has been good in early morning and evenings on the shallow flats and shorelines. Crappie and gill action has been good to start the ice season. They are finding both crappie and gills close to some of the shallower cribs using small plastics, spikes, or waxies.
