Muskie Nut

I have heard that we will be receiving our 500 Leech lake Strain muskies from the Minnesota Muskie Farm on Thursday November 17. They should arrive about 9am at the Olin launch in the south end of Lake Monona. There the WNDR will fin clip, measure, and insert a PIT tag into each fish. Come and watch and maybe help out.

Stocking is all done. Thanks to MN Muskie Farm and the fine guys at from the WDNR. We took delivery on 500 muskies and the WDNR fin clipped and PIT tagged all them. The truck arrived about 8:30am and the guys from the WDNR set up quickly and started PIT tagged them in earnest. They got done about 12:15pm. Richard Brandt from the WDNR and Cap City President Lee Bartolini took them out into the lake and placed them in shallow weedy areas. There were a few predatory birds seen, but none were witnessed in taking any of our fish. LeeB noted seeing several gulls and loons as well as a bald eagle. LeeB also noted that these fish dove down right away which helps. In the past we have had the muskies stay on top and the gulls had a feast. After the job was done, the crew enjoyed some pizza donated by Pizza Hut which was nice to have a hot meal on a cold day. Also thanks to those that have donated to our fund raisers and other money making endeavors. We'd also like to thanks those that have donated guides dates, lures, or other products that allow us to run these raffles.
