Hi everyone,

Got out at 8A.M. this morning. Had to deal with rain squalls all day. Air temp was cold with a strong north west wind all day. It rained a lot as big dark clouds moved over head. I took a picture of a couple of the typical clouds that dumped rain on us as they blew over.

The fishing wasn't bad. Caught 3 Walleyes all around 16", 3 SM Bass, a crappie, and about 3 dozen Bluegills. 3 of the Bluegills were huge. I measured one at 9 3/4" and it was thick across the back. I released everything again. Trying to keep the pattern down on the Walleyes. they are still deep. The wood in the depths are holding a lot of forage right now and have all summer.

Caught every thing on jigs and leeches. Will be buying minnows tommorow. I'm real low on leeches. So I'll see if the Walleyes still remember how to eat minnows. used crawlers today too, but nothing touched them.

The water temps dropped 4 degrees from yesterday. Down to 69 degrees. With the cold night and cloudy day, the water cooled off. Cooler tonight forecast, so don't expect the water to warm up soon. Will be out in the A.M. Have to wear my ice fishing clothes. Predicting air temps around 40. Hope that's above 0! Good luck fishing everyone.

What about the gills? What depths and baits are you getting those on?

Thanks in advance

Hi bunczak,

I catch the Bluegills out in the deep wood on jig and leech while I'm fishing for Walleyes. They seem to be every where. It seems that the bigger Bluegills are out in the deep water. Leeches are done for the year now, so it'll be interesting how many Bluegills I'll catch on minnows.
